Philip R. Richards was born in 1959. He enjoys photography and the natural world. Him and his wife Elizabeth married in 1983 and had two beautiful daughters, Hannah born Feb. 27, 1984 and Allison born March17, 1989. Today, he is blessed with a wonderful granddaughter named Lillian Jade born March 3rd 2007. They reside in the Great Lake State of Michigan, the Winter Wonderland. It is a beautiful state with much to explore. Richards discovered that he really enjoyed writing. Mostly he felt a need to write, to express how he views different aspects of life and he tries to relate to other people with similar visions and view points. According to him, writing is a great way to express your feelings and create an avenue between you and those around you.

When I planted a seed, I did not know,
this seed would sprout and begin to grow.
When growing your own, just take it slow,
if the soil looks good, life’s blood will flow.
I’ve never grown anything, quite like this,
but this is an experience, I will not miss.
I must give it care, so that it may survive,
so this life I planted, will grow and thrive.
I must learn the skills, to fulfill this mission,
for to grow your own, takes lots of ambition.
I wasn’t prepared for what happened next,
my life was suddenly… much more complex.
It takes a long time, for a sprout to mature,
when it’s time to harvest, we feel some fear.
It’s not easy, but worth all the years it takes,
for growing your own child, is never a mistake.

The Middle Ages
It’s not what you think, it was not long ago,
it’s the time in our lives, age starts to show.
I would say middle age, is from forty to sixty,
when we evaluate our lives, assessing the risky.
We find out how delicate our bodies really are,
as some give up their teeth. . . for ones in a jar.
Some lose their hair, others color it with flair,
we want to look younger. . . isn’t gray debonair?
It gets harder to control, those sizes we wear,
we see ourselves buff. . . but no energy to spare.
Our vision goes to hell, we hear muffled words,
we need a high fiber diet, to soften our turds.
We get aches and pains, making us feel lame,
the mirror will show, we have wrinkles to claim.
It’s a time we wonder, if we have what we want,
a time we question, if we want what we have.
Some will never achieve, some will over achieve,
many struggle to believe. . . how life was conceived.
We all wish by this time, to be financially secure,
but will our job still be there, this time next year.
In the middle ages, it seems time takes it’s toll,
as life passes by faster, can we reach every goal?
They say age makes us wiser, what do we gain,
when we strain to retain, what’s in our brain.
It seems life passes by, in the wink of an eye,
as our children get older, the elderly say bye.
It’s the cycle of life, it’s our joy and our tears,
the middle ages is when. . . we conquer our fears.
Don’t feel sorry, don’t regret, what is the past,
it’s half time and our goal, is to make life last.
To Be… In Love
To be in love is the key, to the heart of living,
a feeling, a desire, that keeps all of us giving.
To be in love means, we can’t wait to seize,
the feeling that makes us, weak in the knees.
To be in love, a feeling we want to be endless,
a vibrancy filling our world with happiness.
To be in love will cause our hearts to grow,
as the butterflies flutter…way down below.
To be in love is the focus of many a thought,
for this kind of love, just cannot be bought.
To be in love brings joy each and everyday,
a passion that we hope, won’t ever go away.
To be in love is to know one inside and out,
to have trust and faith, without any doubt.
To be in love will give you a natural high,
when a touch and a kiss, can make you fly.
To be in love, one can’t stand to be apart,
a mutual desire, that will deepen the heart.
To be in love is a fire, that burns quite bold,
a flame to keep hearts, from turning too cold.
To be in love changes, how we perceive our role,
we care more and kindness, bleeds from the soul.
To be in love isn’t created, by our state of mind,
for a love such as this, only our heart can find.
It Sucks to Live
We all have experienced this feeling before,
from this living thing, as it sucks to the core.
A life that keeps us all scratching the surface,
what’s God’s reason, does this life have purpose?
We are attacked by this life, stabbed from behind,
it bites and it sucks and it’s not very kind.
We have found many ways of ending the pain,
yet this life continues, to drive us insane.
There must be a reason, for life such as this,
I’m sure we all wish, that this life not exist.
It sucks to keep trying, to just stay alive,
we can try killing all, but some will survive.
We know this life sucks, how much can we give,
why must we give blood, so others can live?
This life will stick us and take all that it can,
we’re all itching, to end, this torture to man.
We keep fighting this life and what it will bring,
for (Mosquitoes) live. . . just to suck from the sting. (repeat)
